Draft 1 - Content For Historical Narrative

Sri Lanka was previously known as Ceylon which means 'beautiful island' but this 'beautiful island' has turn to an ugly bloodbath by bitter civil wars. Anika a Sinhalese was caught in between this war of endless fighting so was Ahilla a Indian Tamil.

The tension between the Sinhalese and the Tamil sparked during the British colonial rule which favoured the tamil minority in terms of education and jobs. when Sri Lanka gain independent, the new government where made up of Sinhalese which was a revenge for them.

Anika was still in Secondary school. At that time the Tamil was treated unfairly they had to pick up the language of Sinhala. Anika and Ahilla was best of friends even though civil wars broke out. Both of their parents disagree them staying together because of the higher class and lower class ranking.

"It isn't fair why you people get the best of everything," said Ahilla.
"I Didn't want it to be that way too," exclaimed Anika.
"It's your kind that is making those decisions," screamed Ahilla.
"Come on Ahilla we have been good friends for so long let's put this aside shall we?" said Anika. These kind of arguments lasted for weeks and was never resolve.

Years pasts and soon they are going to take their university examination but the new admission criteria was set up which was unfair to Ahilla. The examination was on and both of them took up Medicine course but Anika Pass and made it through to university as for Ahilla she was shell shock and she decided to end this relationship with Anika because of the unfairness. Anika knew that there was no way to bring this relationship back.

Soon all this mistreatment stirred up riots and there was lots of causality on both side. Soon the Tamil suffered enough and form the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). People joined the LTTE even kids at the age of 12 have to take up arms for their survivor and rights. Ahilla soon join the LTTE. The LTTE was on a rampage killing the Sinhalese and those who stood in their path.

Ahilla Soon became the leader of delta group which is to do raids on people and kill them if they were Sinhalese. Ahilla was told to raid on a town. She was vicious she went in drag the Sinhalese out and shoot right in the forehead without blinking.
"What's that noise?" said Anika as she walk out from her door.
"Mom Dad hide now! There's a raid going on hide now!" Shout at her top of her lungs.

Anika and her family decided to hide in her room but she knew they were going to find her. Hiding was not an option. she begged and pray with her legs and hands trembling and tears drip like waterfall.
"Come out now!" Shouted the LTTE members

One by one the doors of every room was knock down. Ahilla came saw what was in the room and was shocked. She was stunned to see Anika. But for that moment lots of things came zooming to her minds seconds turned to minutes.
"Move to the next house, they are not our enemies," yelled Ahilla.
"Anika why didn't they shoot us?" said Anika mom in despair.
"Mom we are blessed we were raid by my friend," said Anika
"But why did she join the LTTE?" questioned by Anika mom
"I don't know mom, but at least she has a heart of friendship," exclaim Anika

Ahilla was still in the LTTE and Anika kept fleeing to other places and take refuge but both of them knew it was not them who brought those fight but the governments
