Title: The Reunion

The Citizens threw cocktail bombs and glass bottles. Explosions took place everywhere like a mini warfare, many innocent people were killed. The Tamils knew it was not the Sinhalese’s fault but the government, violence and sacrificial was the only way to make the people know how the Tamils suffered.

Sri Lanka was previously known as Ceylon which meant 'beautiful island' but this 'beautiful island' has turned to an ugly bloodbath by bitter civil war. Anika, a Sinhalese and Prema, an Indian Tamil were both caught in-between this war of endless fighting.

The tension between the Sinhalese and the Tamils sparked during the British colonial rule which favoured the Tamil minority in terms of education and jobs. When Sri Lanka gain independence. The Sinhalese took over the new government which gave them the opportunity for revenge.

Anika and Prema were still in Secondary school. At that time the Tamils in the government sector had to learn Sinhala or they will be fired, this showed unfairness thus this made the Tamils inferior to the Sinhalese. Anika and Prema were best of friends even though civil wars broke out. Both of their parents disagreed to let them stay together due to the difference in races.

"It isn't fair why you PEOPLE get the best of everything," yelled Prema as she stomped out of the classroom.
"I didn't want that to happen too! We had to suffer your complains when our government made policies that wasn't fair to you people," rebutted Anika with her hands at akimbo.
"It's your KIND that is making those decisions, why don’t you PEOPLE help us, all you do is discriminate us," Prema hollered.
"Don’t speak to me with such attitude!” said Anika. These kinds of arguments lasted for weeks and were never resolved.
Years passed and soon they were going to take their university examination for the medical course that they had opted but the new admission criteria proved to Prema as a disadvantage.

“YES I got in! YES, I’m so proud of…” before Anika could continue she notice the aura around Prema and asked “Prema…”. “SHUT UP! This isn’t fair I scored higher than you by many more points, but you got in! I’m telling you this Anika our friendship ends HERE, RIGHT NOW this was the last time I will see you ever again!” screamed Prema as tears run down like razorblades.

Anika did nothing but stood there staring into blank space knowing clearly that there was no way to bring this relationship back.

Soon all this mistreatment stirred up riots and there was lots of causality on both side. Soon the Tamils suffered enough and formed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).Both young and old joined the LTTE to take up arms to fight for their survivor and rights. Prema soon joined the LTTE. The LTTE was on a rampage killing the Sinhalese and those who stood in their path.

Prema Soon became the leader of delta group which was to raid the people and kill them if they were Sinhalese. Prema was told to raid the town. She was vicious. She went on killing them one by one.
"What's that noise?" questioned Anika as she rushed out from her house.
"Mom, Dad hide now! There's a raid going on. HIDE NOW!" shouted Anika as she pointed to her bedroom.

Anika and her family decided to hide in her room but they knew the LTTE were going to find them sooner or later. Hiding was not an option. She prayed hard while her legs and hands trembling. Tears flowed profusely out of her innocent eyes.

"Come out, come out where ever you are!" laughing as if they were mentally crazy.

The LTTE members knock down very single door. Prema came and saw what was in the room and was uncertain what to do, whether mercy should be given to Anika. For that spilt moment of her life came zooming in which made the atmosphere that turned seconds into minutes.

"Move to the next house, they are not our enemies," Prema commanded the LTTE however with slight hesitation.
"Anika why didn't they shoot us?" panic stricken as Anika's mom said trembling with fear and despair.
"Mom we are blessed, as one of the LTTE members was my friend," confronted Anika as she held her mom’s hand and gave a rub, assuring her.
"But why did she join the LTTE?" questioned by Anika mom still frighten.
"I don't know mom, but at least she still gave us mercy," Anika cried in desperation.

Prema was still in the LTTE and Anika kept fleeing to other places to seek refuge. Streets were filled with bodies that never move and roads turned red, riots happened very often and the Sinhalese were killed even though they did nothing. Kids were not spared. All this violence would not have happened if there was no jealousy. If only the people learned to forgive.

My Future Job
Sunday, March 29, 2009

Ladies & gentleman! Boys and girls welcome to my blog today I'm going to talk about my future career. Before I start let me share my hobbies and how I get the idea of the job that I want. When I was young I always enjoy playing remote control cars not any RC but petrol, YES! Petrol, the car is super fast and noisy I got this first hand experience when my dad was still a mechanic, those who repair cars.

(a petrol RC)

My dad and my brother were both car fanatics, and through that I also have a passion for cars. If I could still remember my brother bought a racing game for me and I really fell in love with, the passion was unexplainable but what I enjoy is the need for speed. Thus, by now you have guessed it I want to be a racing driver not formula 1 but Gran Tourer. However, I cannot use that as a job as there is no racing course in Singapore and it's not very practical.

(BMW M3 on a gran touring)

My second option was to be a pilot in the air force, reason being I like to soar in the fly freely with no boundaries. None the less it was not really practical as in when I retire it is very difficult to find a job because the plane that the Singapore airlines use are very different.

(SU-47 supersonic jet fighter made in Russia)

So at the end I want to be a Psychiatrist!
Reason is I always wanted to read the mind of others understand them and try to clear their vices. And the moment I step into Chong Boon Secondary I saw the autistic being unable to compare I felt sad as why human like us must suffered this kind of metal illness and I want to heal them or at least, let their condition improve.

"A Psychiatrist is basically is a physician who specializes in psychiatry and is certified in treating mental disorders." (Definition found at www.wikipedia.com)
Psychiatry course are run at 1 institution in Singapore which is NUS. No other Polytechnics or JC supports Psychiatry course which, means I would need to go to a JC and get a good A-Level result and a good O-level results and hopefully I can have 6points for L1R5 just to go AJC. But if I fail to do so I will need to go overseas to study.

Another reason is that my brother studies psychology so he knows a bit or two and another thing is that he study in NUS and was in AJC so I guess I am following his footsteps. Thus, it is finalized I will strive to become a psychiatrist!

I can make a difference

I have learnt that global warming is a very vital point in human needs and our planet earth. This has come to a point that our mother earth is getting hotter due to global warming which is cause by human activities, activities such as deforestation, factories work, pollution of gases out of cars and factories and usage of air-conditioning. All of these activities are for our self needs and because of this our mother earth is dying; why is it dying? Reason is as this activities continue carbon dioxide (CO2) is being release into the air causing an effect call the green house gases, you see CO2 is meant for trapping heat from the sun rays so that the earth will remain warm but if there is too much, it will result to extinction of plants because of heat and melting of icebergs hence causing the sea level to rise which is bad for countries like Singapore because we are surrounded by sea. If this really happen, Singapore will sink down to the sea. I really feel that this is an important piece of news and we should take action before its too late......

I can make a difference by using the 3R's which are reduce, reuse and recycle. This three may seem useless but it really comes in handy. First we have reduce, we can reduce the amount of plastic, cans and paper by reducing it we can cut cost which means we would not spend that much of money buying paper hence the amount of paper being use is being cut down and that also cuts down the amount of deforestation. Second we have reuse, as the same as the first we can reuse paper again and again till there is no place for us to draw or write on, we can even recreating items like changing 'yakult' bottles to pencil holder. Reusing all these products also help to cut down on the money we spent and at the same time helping the world because it cuts on the usage of plastic. Third we have recycling, as said before when you use a piece of paper till there is no place to write you do not just throw it away you should recycle it instead and always buy recycle paper because it's cheap and at the same time u save the earth.

The saving of our planet doesn't end here there is more to do and there is a part to play for everyone including me, you, him, her and our job to save the environment. And for my advice take pubic transport or walk back home instead of buying cars to drive to work or go home, not only it save our world it also help you to keep fit.
